Translations and languages
Change Vellora's built-in text, sell in more languages, and show country and language selectors.
Vellora's storefront text, such as "Add to cart" or "Your cart is empty", comes from the theme's English language file. Your own content, such as product titles and section headings, comes from your admin and the theme editor. You can change both, and translate both into other languages.
Change the theme's default text
To reword a button or a message in your store's default language:
- Go to Online Store > Themes.
- Next to Vellora, click ... and then Edit default theme content.
- Search for the text, such as "Add to cart", and type your version.
- Click Save.
Add a language
- Go to Settings > Languages and click Add language.
- Choose the language, then publish it in the markets where you sell.
- Translate your store with Shopify's free Translate & Adapt app. Click Localize next to the language to open it.
In Translate & Adapt, translate:
- Theme content: Vellora's built-in text, such as buttons and messages.
- Section and block text: headings and text you typed in the theme editor.
- Products, collections, pages, blog posts and menus.
Translate & Adapt can also translate automatically. Review the result before you publish the language.
Vellora ships with English text only. Any language you add starts untranslated until you translate it in Translate & Adapt.
Show language and country selectors
Customers switch language and country with selectors. They appear only when your store has more than one language or more than one country published in Settings > Markets.

The country selector shows each country with its currency, such as "Canada (CAD $)". Choosing a country changes the currency and prices for that market.
Currencies
Prices display in the customer's currency when you sell in several markets. To show the currency code after prices, such as "$45.00 CAD", turn on Theme settings > Currency format > Show currency codes. This helps when several of your currencies use the same symbol.
The free shipping progress bar in the cart only shows in your store currency. See Cart.
Tips
- Translate menus and page titles too. A translated store with English menus feels unfinished.
- Check long words in German or Finnish on mobile. Buttons and menu items can wrap.
- Translate before you publish a language. Customers can switch to it as soon as it's published.
