Cart recommendations
How Vellora suggests products in the cart drawer and cart page, and how to choose them yourself.
Cart recommendations is a built-in part of the cart. It shows up to three products under the cart lines, in both the cart drawer and the cart page, so shoppers can add one more item before checkout. It has no settings of its own here: set it up in Theme settings → Cart → Cart recommendations.
| Setting | What it does |
|---|---|
| Show recommended products | Turns the recommendations on or off. |
| Heading | The heading above the products, "You may also like" by default. |
| Products | Up to four products you pick yourself. |
Where the products come from:
- If you pick products, the cart shows up to three of them that are in stock and not already in the cart.
- If you leave Products empty, Shopify's own recommendations for the first item in the cart are used, again skipping products already in the cart. They load in the background, so they don't slow down opening the cart.
Each product has an Add button. Products with options show a View button instead, which opens quick view so shoppers can choose a variant.
Best practices
- Pick small, low-cost add-ons. Care products, gift wrap, socks or refills are easy yes decisions at the end of a purchase.
- Pick four products so there's still something to show after a shopper adds one.
- Prefer single-variant products. They add to the cart in one tap, without opening quick view.
- Improve Shopify's suggestions with the Search and Discovery app, where you can set related products for each product.
Preset tips
- All three presets have cart recommendations turned on, using Shopify's suggestions until you pick products.
- Sorrel also turns on free samples in the cart, under Theme settings → Cart → Free samples. A travel size of a bestseller makes a good recommendation next to them.
